loonyboi's Frag 2 Diary

By Jason "loonyboi" Bergman

11/1 - 1:00 AM Central - Doom, baby!

God dang, Doom is just plain fun to watch! :)

Romero just DM'd Blue, and hot dang was that ever a hoot and a half. This was pure Romero...taunting too...John, if you're reading this, you are definitely an honorary loon. Man, I thought I cackled like a madman when I play. This guy has got me beat hands down...some quotes:

"Nope! Don't do that...ever!"

"It helps to see me first!"

"Nice...that was awesome. You're going to pay for that, though!"

"Goddamn walls!"

"Why are you doing that!?"

"Stay away from my shit!"

"Watch out for your eyes, dude!"

"That where you like to hide, bitch?"

...and of course..."come get some!" Hmm...wonder how Romero is in Duke3D deathmatch. :)

11/1 - 1:30 AM Central - Doom 2: The Wrath of KillCreek

You know something? I just realized...there's this huge crowd around the Doom 2 area over here (KillCreek's playing Psychology at the moment) and meanwhile, over on the other side of the room, there's an official Quake 2 thing going on. Nobody's going to win a trophy, nobody's getting a huge check...this is just Doom. I don't expect anything similar at the PGL finals in San Francisco (in two weeks...more flying...ugh). This whole thing is just so laid back...very fun to just sit here and do my thing (which seems to be compulsively writing, frankly).

11/5 - 11:29 PM Eastern - Recap

Okay, so I didn't get a chance to write any updates after that last one...sue me...I'm amazed at how much I did actually manage to get in, considering how I spent so much of the event just running around like a madman.

I did have a hell of a time there...It was great to hang out with everyone who I don't see much...thanks guys! If you're wondering how this whole rambling story ends...here's the quick version: I had to take a plane out pretty early on Sunday (okay, so it was 1:00...but take into account the fact that I had to actually get to the airport first, and you see the problem). So I missed the finals...which sucked, since I was really looking forward to checking that out.

For those who are dying to know, here's the results from the finals:

1. RiX
2. Makaveli
3. Immortal
4. Resonance
5. Unholy
6. Leprechaun

A big ol' thanks goes out to Angel Munoz and Polish for throwing a great event...I'm really looking forward to the next one. Hope to see you all there!

As a last note, this whole thing was a major experiment, and I'm really curious as to what everyone thinks about it...if you liked this thing, let me know, and who knows...maybe i'll start doing it for other events. :)
