the Mouth of Madness:

What's up this week in loonygames? Ask our editor.
oah...I just read this nice little plug we got on AOL UK that called us, "[A] brilliant online publication." Pretty cool, huh? Don't worry, I won't let it go to my head. :)
Anyway, we're down to the wire here for the holiday season, so this week's issue is our first ever holiday one. We've gone out and found as many geeky gifts as possible for you, and even picked out our favorite games of the year. It's a great read if you're wondering what to get that all important geek in your life.
My game playing these days has slowed somewhat...now that i've finished Heretic II (look for my full review on Thursday) I find myself well...bored by the game I was planning on playing through next, Tomb Raider III. Now that's a weird little thing that happened.
You see, I really liked the first two Tomb Raider games, and was planning on this one continuing that trend. Only...now that i've played Heretic II all the way through, I keep wanting to well...kick some ass! And that's just not possible in Tomb Raider. Whereas Heretic II is all about hardcore action and non-stop violence (yeah!), Tomb Raider III is just senseless puzzle after puzzle. And I find myself less able to get into that sort of thing.
And oy...after Heretic II, I just laugh at the goofy boss creatures in Tomb Raider III. Not to mention the buggy camera. But...i've said too much already...look for my full report on Thursday.
By the way, in case you haven't noticed, we're switching to a weekly schedule for the time being for our Top Shelf reviews, and putting The Bargain Bin on hold until after Christmas. Basically, I came to the conclusion that there are just too many games shipping at the moment, and we want to cram as many of them into the pre-Christmas issues as possible. So enjoy this week's off-schedule review!
We've got some great things in store for you in the coming weeks, including our first real foray into the world of console gaming. We've had lots of requests for more console coverage, and don't worry...we're working on it.
Also in the works are a couple more additions to our Developer's Corner...and a few special other things too. Stay tuned, kids...we've got a lot to live up to these days...but we're taking it on head-first.
This is going to have to be a short installment this week kids...finals are beating the heck out of me. More next week, and maybe even my long-coming 'rant on Trespasser!
